Umal-Kheyr is a Registered Midwife currently working in a tertiary maternity hospital. She embodies the fundamental understanding of woman-centred care within her midwifery practice. Umal-kheyr has and will continue to empower women to become pioneers of their health. With future interest in research and community work; Umal-Kheyr looks to address health barriers faced amongst non-English speaking women and families within the maternity setting. She entails to debunk and further understand the types of frameworks that can be put in place to not only accomodate but to also bridge the gap for such women and families. Conversely, Umal-kheyr passionately enjoys addressing public health issues faced by her own community. In light of the current Covid-19 pandemic; Umal-Kheyr really values the importance of providing best evidence-based information to her community; particularly in an environment where miss information is so readily available.
In everything she does; she embodies the teaching of “for the people, by the people”. Such understanding of her professional responsibility will always be a guide of her practice; but a constant reminder that the interest of the community and or the women or families whom care She have been trusted with will be the forefront of everything she does and continues to do.
